I dont think its totaly fixed.
There are times when it all runs smoothly, yet other times its still very bad.

On eagles yesterday people were dissapearing and reappearing all the time. very hard to hit.
But it seemed to me that I was ok, it seemed like everyone else was lagging. with a 400-500 ping. yet everyones pings were normal Confused

Thats what was happening to Karr the other day and she said it was happening to me too.

btw are the cow skins back on? could it have something to do with that?
I force default models anyway but I see a green cow skin when they die.
Could it be only when cows are on?

Whats the server log file like Punt, how big is it? no errors?

Cow skins havent changed, just my scripts immediately kick someone when they enter with that skin.

As for lag, well, dunno, try a bit more Id say, can you find out when it starts occurring? Obviously sometimes the server has other stuff to do but normally it should not notice much external interference..

Punt are the stats still on?

You should try turning them off as well as all logging options in your ini files.

I had few games yesterday and no lag at all, only on one map - DarkCity I saw that effect LeeBe described. But I dunno I must have really BIG lag to notice it... Smile


Oh yeah AEStats, is it disabled? It already caused probs....

Everything is disabled. Only a basic UT server left right now.

Actually UT does log the game, but dunno if that should affect anything.
I will disable it right now for good measure.

AEstats runs seperately from UT. It does keep updating but new games should not be logged anymore...

Incidentally there's a lot of talk amongst UT admins that the 451 patch actually causes somewhere between 'some' and 'a lot' more cpu load on the server. It's not unlikely that my poor CPU's reach their limits earlier (24 players? 26?) until this is fixed..

But again... if you experience lag, try to find patterns. Is it on certain maps, (large ones? small ones?) or with a certain amount of players?

OK today's lag report. I started at TDM-Eagles, since beginning I had our old weird lag, ping was OK but gameplay was choppy, not very much, but it wasnt smooth as 2 days ago. Next game was TDM-AF-Canyon075, lag again, probably worst than before. Both games 22-26 players. Next game was TDM-AbadonedCity, started with lag (less than Canyon) but since cca half of game, llag nearly diappeared. 20-22 players whole game. Next was TDM-Authonome (or something like that, large ancient city map), started with only cca 5 players, at the end cca 20-22. Whole game was totally lag less, smooth. So I really dunno, I cant find any pattern....

That pretty much sums up what ive been getting. Theres no pattern in relation to maps / map size / player count.
Wouldnt have thought it would be your ini file or it would be bad every game.

Maybe a fresh install and just put a few maps in? leave all skins out and voices.
Just put the mainly popular maps in. Zeitkind, Zahltag, Canyon, Bedroom etc.

Then add things back one at a time.

I have found much the same as above. I also think the server seems to run much faster than b4.............does for me anyhow. This combined with the choppiness has thrown my aim right out the window!
Maybe you could look at using a custom game speed!!.(you may well do allready).........somewhere between the hardcore and turbo??? Might be worth a try do you think?

Has anyone else noticed this and does anyone else agree that to slow the game speed a little may help? (It's just an idea)!

Ok, over the last week Ive been exactly the same, very laggy on some maps others it was ok.
Only thing worth mentioning is that when I was ok, others were complaining of lag and disapearing/reapearing somewhere else.

It seems as if its always laggy for someone Confused I was ok yesterday on Zeitkind but some people were really hard to hit, because they weren't where I saw them Confused
