Windows was broken and Microsoft has admitted it. In an unprecedented attempt to explain its Longhorn problems and how it abandoned its traditional way of working, the normally secretive software giant has given unparalleled access to The Wall Street Journal, even revealing how Vice President Jim Allchin, personally broke the bad news to Bill Gates.
more here
my view: Its took them this long to find that out??? hasnt it been broken for about a decade now??

I think it's interesting, because really if you keep a good computer and have knowledge of what you are doing, windows doesn't crash that much.
I've had XP forever now and it has crashed a handful of times, usually because of something I've done.
I've worked with hundreds of people and the main cause of crashing or windows messing up is user error. 1/50 might actually be caused by windows.
Can Vista solve stupid user caused crashes?

Yeah my XPs are stable too. Vista should have some "extreme dumbness" check. When you install it, do some quiz and if you fail: "WE ARE SORRY, BUT YOU ARE TOO DUMB TO USE COMPUTER. PLEASE TAKE THIS CD (THAT ROUNDED FLASHY THING) AND RETURN IT TO YOUR COMPUTER STORE. THANK YOU, MICROSOFT."
