Hey ppl, most of you are from the EU, so I was wondering what you think about that new EU "constitution" which is now being ratified in all members states.
We will probably have referendum, but I have no idea how to vote tbh. I was always strong euro optimist, but I have to say that last years gave me some doubts. EU is sure good, and it was big help for us to join, but there are also bad sides of EU...
Anyway about that constitution, I tried to read it, but its really impossible. It has hunderds of pages (500) and its written in lawyer's language, so I understand maybe half of it. And this is what is worrying me most - how many ppl really know what is inside this huge document? How can be lawers language twisted and manipulated in someone's benefit?
From what I was able to understand, some decisions are moved from "any member can veto" system to majority system, which is another thing I do not like.
But I really dont know, EU ppl have answers on all these questions and full hand of advantages if constitution is signed and tbh those who oppose here in cz arent too much trustable to me...

i have never liked the idea of the Euro thing. I know it makes industry easier, but it also makes living more expensive intially. This is because conversion is always rounded up and to confuse older less brainy people and charge more because they cannot think with euro in mind.
I do not like the idea of some one in brussels or else where being able to be used as an out let for criminals who we have judged as breaking the law and through the european court of apeal found not guilty because their rights had somehow been infringed during the course of arrest for the crime.
Its like asking a person in hawaii to tell me what my council tax should be.
Money i agree with in that i hate changing money and getting fleeced by the exchange company. Also the industrys would do better via international exports as a whole. But only if the Euro can sustain a strong and comparable margin as the US Dollar.
My Mum is a lawyer and i have read lots of her stuff and i agree that it can be confusing to read, and more so to understand. Usually depicted by previous cases in law. either being proved innocent or guilty.

Lol I dont know, I am not in UK . But considering the fact that UK is probably most prosperous EU country, I dont think you can get something significant. The main reason for it would be probably better, tighter and more effective cooperation between EU members, which would allow us to stay competitive with US and more importantly with growing Asian economies.
But thats just blahblah I read on various servers, I dont really know .

I haven't read it all, but it seems like the general idea is to become more like U.S States.
The way it works here is there are two main sets of rules/laws, then some other categories but that doesn't need to be specified here.
One is the federal level (U.S government) and one is the state level (individual states have seperate laws). Federal law is suppose to superseed state laws, so they can set certain laws and they would be applicable across all 50 u.s states. Then each individual state has laws that are only applicable to that state.
In theory it would create a uniform list of rules/laws applicable to the whole EU and when changes are made then it would be applicable to all countries in the EU.
To have a better understanding of what might happen, I would probably need to go back and read how the original U.S consitution affected the original colonies and how it would be applicable to the modern world.

Not only money. As bigger a community grows as difficulty it is to control, to handle it and to setup right laws for everyone. SUch big institution is important for business, but for the single one on the street? I'm not sure. If i'm honest for me it is important what a politician does for me as he acts 'in my name' as i vote for him, and not if he creates something more complicated just to say later on why he needs more money from me to make it 'easier' and why nothing happens as everything is so complicated. Naturally, things needs to go on and develop to be fit for future but if things happens which belongs to the pps and the pps have no real influence anymore then the politicians hardly failed in their job.

why is it good to have different currency? I have tried to think of reasons and cannot seem to come up with any good ones. Having one world currency has a ton of benefits.
