* Agreed to pay for Mike to get Microsoft Certification training. Depending on which courses he chooses, this could lead him to become a certified support technician, or system administrator, or something along those lines.
* Agreed to give Mike a subscription to MSDN, the Microsoft Developer Network Web site, with various tools for developing software around Microsoft products.
* Agreed to give Mike an Xbox game system, complete with a number of games of his choosing. |

| Lol... anyway I was wondering if they would have any chance to win if they sued him, I mean, are trademarks protected that much that noone can use name which is only pronounced same as trademark?

they probably wouldn't win if the playing field was level, but seeing as M$ has billions of dollars and a top team of lawyers vs. a 17yo kid with $1000 in donations to spend on a lawyer, they might win due to the fact that the kid couldn't afford a winning defense team.
Which is why it was smart of him to settle instead of losing a few years in court, thousands of dollars, all over a stupid domain name.
I woulda taken the xbox alone  for my $10 investment of the domain.
Now however if his name hadn't been Mike Rowe, and it was some random person like John Smith, who was just using the name to exploit M$ then the person who owned it would have probably lost the name. In those cases the registrar usually takes the name and gives it to the legal owner.
