Maybe some firewall is blocking your browser agentinfo details Zed, than Windows Update cant recognize MSIE and gives u that error. Some firewalls do this as privacy protection.

nope I turned the firewall off.

Also tried it using the xp update. Can everyone else get to the updates?

Yeah its working for me too. Something must be blocking your UserAgent info Zed, hm but no idea what if your firewall is off....
