just a fyi.
TPG posted to the following New Patch/MD5 update to the UT Admins mailing list:
Well, it's been a while since we gave an update to the list so I figured it is time we updated you guys on what is going on.
We are working hard on finishing up all the lose ends inside the code and doing some internal testing to find bugs. We have a couple more issues we need to resolve before we can move to an alpha test. Things seem to be coming along nicely on the MD5 side of the code. Also completed was the editor break that happened in 451. We were able to resolve that. We have also been getting a lot of bug reports from pre-451 versions as well as in the 451 code that we have fixed as well. We are continuing to work on our Mac client and hope (note that is HOPE) to have that ready when the next release is done (if not, we will put it out as soon as we can get it finished.) Thanks again would totally go to Ryan for his work on this part of the project.
We are taking a look at our bugtraq and all the bugs in there and deciding to fix or leave that for the MOD teams.
This is basically just a little FYI for everyone to let you all know that we are alive and are working still. It's been a while since our last release, but a lot has to be done to do this right. Would rather take the
time then rush the code.
Now, I know the number one question on everyone's mind is how long till it's ready. I honestly don't like putting a date out there simply due to the amount of things that could come up. The flow will go as follows:
Internal testing and finalization. This will be to hopefully find the majority of the bugs before we hit alpha. This step is in progress as we speak with builds happening as we continue to find more issues to resolve.
Alpha testing. We will release a pre-test to our alpha testers group. This will be to help find any additional bugs from a small concentrated group of individuals.
Beta testing. This will be all of you guys. We need hard testing and bug reporting from you to hopefully find the remaining bugs.
Release. We mark this as gold and put it up on the site.
Hopefully we can move into the alpha testing stage as soon as we finish off these bugs that we have recently identified. Then from there, the process should be rolling along. I would expect each stage to take a min of two weeks to fully test and get everything caught.
Well, that's it for a status report. Hopefully soon we will be sending a beta release notice.
