Well, as of right now Im running server version 436 again, with OCAFiles01 protection. The primary reason is to (try to) establish if this now fixes any and all lag problems.

Obviously if you've always had lag then this shouldn't matter but to many people lag started happening only fairly recently. (2-3 months ago?)

So. Let me know what you guys think. Is it all better/worse/thesame?

I read somewhere recently that extra maps lag the server as well.

Anyone confirm this?

Theres a lot of extra maps on pm, some ive never seen and probably wont.

OK- tried this morning 2 maps and have to say - better than recent couple months...cant really say if this have been the cure cause there was only about 10 people playing...
Will keep on observing and comments will follow.....

I tried yesterday and first two maps it was really good, third (Zahltag) wasnt perfect but still better. I ll test it today again.

Hi Puntloos

Something goes wrong with the old server settings.

I was kicked out from my UT for 3times if i was shot down in a map!!
after that i get the error: D 3D Driver Encountered oversize texture without suffizient mipmaps.
And not only I got this error so 4-5 people have had the same!!
It happened only on OCA not on DJ or Fraggalonia or another server!!

That is a hack. someone that was playing was doing that to people.
you can tell who it is by looking for who talks just before everyone crashes.

Ive told Punt about a fix for this but he hasnt had time to put it in place yet.
for other admins wanting to avoid this, the fix is in this thread.

Yeah it was D3D hack. I was there too, see my post on oca Lee.

BTW about lag - I think it much better than before.

Gna.. keep up the comments.. are you all agreeing that even with 28-ish players the servers are now much better? For example that map with a kitchen (haha might be called DM-Kitchen) seems to get quite a few complaints - is that fixed?

Weird though.. I mean with kitchen I understand.. kitchen is such a small map I wouldn't be surprised if my server had to process 10-20 shots per second at peak times (the actual bullet data seems to be causing most, probably has to do with zeroping routines) but Abandonedcity is a large map where I would be surprised if it ever goes over 5.

So much for the 'bullet' theory.

Anyway, please keep up the reports, I want to be absolutely sure that the lag issues have now been (mostly) fixed before I start completely reinstalling all stuff, install ASH, lagkick perhaps..

When I was playing today I couldnt get in one map.
There was no lag on KitchenChaos but the next map, Arkham Asylum, it wouldnt let me in. Sad
It was a message Ive never seen before Confused

It came up 'Connecting' then just said 'Aborted' and UT locked Confused
I had to power down to get back into windows the first time, other times I could end the task with task manager. I tried Opengl and D3D and no difference Confused

Yet I saw people playing the map Confused I tried other servers and I was ok Confused

Strange Confused that never happend to me

About lag - I played KitchenChaos too, and it was laggy, but not more than usually - classic lag level for that map. Other maps were ok, lagless, until ppl voted for DM-Dojo][ (it was just after KitchenChaos), that map has probably some missing files so server started with another map. Since that moment, all maps were extremly laggy, I think DM-Morpheus was next and later AbadonedCity. Maybe that lag has something to do with broken maps OR maps like KitchenChaos (naturaly laggy maps).....

That's one thing we haven't looked into yet, but could it be that people with 451 clients had no problems while people with 436 clients did? Did you guys use 436 or 451?

I am using 436. I tried 451 but I was unable to connect to any server 451, 440 or 436 so I uninstalled it. I think most of ppl are using 436, coz if they were using 451 they couldnt connect to PM now since it is 436.
