That's actually a pretty good idea--i like it. If you're planning on changing the one we're using now, I'd suggest picking the one you just talked about.

I also have the reflex shot on spawn so any spawnprotector that is disabled by shooting would leave me a wide open target. Honestly, I think the one we have now is good. Its not a real big time frame. When I see someone spawn, if you start shooting just a tad later, I usually hit. I dont think that is a huge time frame. Most players have gotten used to it and thats when your defense ability (something which the party who has commented does not have...*cough* campers *cough*) comes in. If you see the "protected" person, chances are they will hit you once but not all the time and even if they did, by that time, you have a chance to fight back and if you give them a headshot..you still got the advantage. Personally, consider WHO is bringing up this issue...people who dont survive much in up close combat, people who rely on spawnkilling, campers. why should we make it easier on them? It was their choice to be campers not ours. If someone is gonna kick a player for standing on a spawnpoint not allowing spawns to happen and therefore not being able to spawnkill..I dont think they deserve to have any influence on the decision to have this spawnprotect. If it was people who actually are regulars at our server and are always there, then I would see this issue in a different light but when it is someone whos one way of getting frags is being stopped..NO F**KING WAY.

AND, I am glad we have shaitan and Ant commenting. You guys play there often and can give us a better feedback. So definetly feel free to make all the comments you want. It does not matter that you have been playing 1 month, 1 year... Very Happy

The one spawnprotect I would lean to would be the current one with no shoot ability or something similar. Anything else I think would cause problems. The only people I have seen complaints from, are members of 2 clans...2 clans who rely on spawnkilling. Members of other clans, "fighting clans" have actually given positive feedback since they dont have to put up with that spawnkilling crap.

One more thing, members of our clan have brought suggestions to a certain server, and guess what...it has NO value...and now that the tables are turned..it should just be a mirror image.

well here is my argument for the current one we have.

We have been using it since the beginning, no major complaints, none of us or regulars have had any outcries over it.

Its not broke... so why change?

Variables - the timing is variable, that way no one can know exactly when the person is going to become invulnerable, which keeps the person from being able to time the unspawn. If it were always say 2 seconds, there is going to be the person who learns the timing and starts delay spawnkilling.

One thing I think of when u say not being able to shoot is when we had zp 2.04 and I couldnt shoot that first shot, it was not only frustrating, but really threw off my game. i can see a lot of disadvantages to changing and only one or two advantages.

Now i guess if everyone wants a new one fine, but if we are all against change, which i think a majority are, then why should we change the style we are accustom due to a few outside comments?

never said i would have complains about the current spawnprotection, on the contrary: it's great... the only minot disadvantages i see are that while being protected you can shoot other people and you don't know exactly when your protection wears off

if you keep the curent one i'll be happy, if you change with another one then fine by me anyway as long as there is one Very Happy

the only thing i think would be unpleasant for everyone is removing it or permanently changing to a new buggy one

I was the one who suggested another spawnprotect and Im not under the evil influence of other clans, I just feel our system is definately better than nothing, but it has a disadvantage I feel we can trade in for another disadvantage, but a better one.

All I am saying is that I find myself being shot at by invulnerable people quite often. And I hate it. I shoot them too, if Im invulnerable but that's not the point, really. I heard a few people complain about the spawnprotect too, don't know their reasons, maybe they were 'fair' players, maybe they just wanted to spawncamp, who knows.

The spawnprotect thing Im suggesting has a disadvantage, yes, but I feel the current one has a disadvantage that simply occurs more often. I get it so often that someone who is 'conscious' is chasing me while I can't shoot back yet. 3 seconds is a long time in a frantic game like this.

For the old spawnprotect disadvantage to hurt you, all you need is a 'conscious' player who spawns near you. Someone who doesn't need the 3 seconds to realise there's someone near to shoot at.
For the new spawnprotect disadvantage to hurt you, you need to both be sleeping (i.e. not get away before the 1 second runs out) and you need to accidentally fire when you spawn. Plus, we don't even know if the system starts looking if you shoot the moment you spawn, or the moment that the 1 second runs out.

I just think the second situation occurs less, which would validate installing (or at least trying) the new system..

I suggest I install the new spawnprotect on the OCA server and we just see if its better or worse..

@puntloos - maybe you can install for trying on a certain date (for one or two days) that u announces in this forum. Everybody can test about advantages and disadvantages. And then make a new poll.

Ok IMO, anything with the potential to improve gameplay should be at least tested. OCA server's a good idea but i dont think we get many spawnies on there, so someone will have to play at being a spawnie to test it.

Its worth a try.
