Since this is happening often lately (blame UTPure) here is what you should try:
If you get:
Code: |
UTPure has detected an impurity hiding in your Client (ID:xxxxx)
|
The only real solution is (or should be) to remove ALL UTPure files from your System and Cache dirs. Cache ain't your fault, if they ended up in your System dir you have been too excited with (for example) Unreal Cache Cleaner 3
The fast way to fix it that will (should) work is:
1/ Delete all .tmp files in your UT directory
2/ Delete all files in your Cache/ directory
3/ Delete all UTPure files from your System directory
Code: |
BP1Handler*.u
BP4Handler*.u
UTPureRC*.u
VAHandler*.u
OCAFiles*.u
|
Note that its a bit of a shame to delete all downloaded maps (by deleting your entire Cache dir in step 2) so if you can, find the files mentioned above in your cache with Cache Cleaner and delete those only.
For linux and apple people the solution almost is the inverse, if you get shit while trying to connect, download the relevant UTPure files manually and install them into your System directory.
If that doesn't work, reinstall I guess.. Or wait for a new UTPure or something. T sucks but tis not our fault I don't think.
If you use cache cleaner it's a good idea to follow the procedure at the bottom of this document. (bottomline: tell cache cleaner to NEVER move the files mentioned above to your System dir by right clicking on them and setting the 'never move' option)

In principle they should not be the cause of this (though they are related to pure) since there are no other versions around (except cheat versions, maybe) but yeah, delete those too.
Still, if all else fails I would suggest a reinstall (backup your old dir) and see if a clean install works. Then go from there..
But hmm I'm migrating to UTPure58 so I guess we'll have a new round of impurities coming up

Well,I know this guy dont cheat but thats not the point here,he re-installed twice, game worked fine about two weeks and again it's giving this annoying info....If every upgrade of UTPure game requires re-install, that is too much trouble.I havent had any problems but my UT-directory takes about 3.2GB of space now and I dont wanna download all this again. This cant be because of old UTPure/BPHandler -files cause I have all these old files in my system and I'm having no problem what so ever. Will have to look this again..when I'm sober... Frag Ya Later...

I used to get them occasionly when I was on 56k just cuz my connection got really bad occasionly and it would view it as a impurity. Never did anything about it since it was irregular then when I got on my schools network havent incountered it since.

Well, reinstalling all the time is not the option, however there is a very easy way to prevent this shit, which is to be careful about how you use your cache.
I assume you(he) use the cachecleaner and put all stuff in your UT directory and THIS IS WRONG. It's fine for maps, textures, sounds, but NOT for .u files.
To keep everything working all you need to do is make SURE that your System directory contains -no- extra files, only the files you had when you installed it first (and perhaps if you must one or two side .ini files)
If you let cache cleaner do its default it will put all kinds of shit (including bad/old versions of UTPure) in your System dir. Prevent that and you'll be fine.
Anyway new UTPure installed, let him try again, with a little luck all should be fine. And well, yes PM installes new UTPure when a new version is out, which prevents cheaters. The only alternative is let lamers fuck up the game, and sorry, that is not worth it either.

We're on PC machines and both use CacheConverter ,that does convert all shit from cache to all directories. Both on VDSL,same town - He cant connect,I'm on the PM everyday few times.... well, this is not really my problem ,I'm just curious about what's causing this... I'll go over there and make things work, cant stand that whining anymore....

As I said, if you use Cache convertor to move stuff from cache to System dir it's your own fault if stuff stops working.

Redman and TeCuMSeH have done some investigations. The UTPure error comes from the OCAfiles01.u file. For people using Cachecleaner rightclick on that file in the cachecleaner and press OK to set it to never move that file. This way it never ends up in the system folder. Could be very wise to also do this with any UTPure files as well. See screenshots for details. If u have this problem be sure to delete thes files from your Unreal\System folder.
