my problem is solved(thx! thx! thx! ) but i think
there r still people facing some problems but never voice out
the situation they faced. below r 2 of our members(SDA)
that r still having some problems with the antilag thing. seems
like they r facing a common problem(got kicked way below
the 500ping). maybe there r not the only 2 facing tis problem
but some others also...well i dunno. i believe ya will is to perfect
the script to let all players play at ease on ya server so tis is
brought to ya attention:)
Code: | just got finished playing two games and was kicked four times. No mater what I set my speed at I still get kicked. Even when my ping is below 200. Basically my favorite server now sucks, and i can't enjoy it anymore. |

Hello folks !
Well...there seem to be something curious goin on with PM server...cause I've gettin these messages too though my ping is around 120
Even gettin the red flag for connection failure poppin up all the time...usually it ends with a connection failure and when tryin to reconnect I can't even find server online...ping 9999 it says in favourites....but after 2-3 minutes it's back and I seem to be the only one suffering the problem...cause all others online are still playin that very same map
But sometimes the ping seems to go bezerk for ALL players online....top ping over 800 just to get back to "normal"...just around 100....and it keeps on goin up and down all the time!
This phenomena have started the last week for me...never had this kinda probs before and don't know what to do about it either
Anybody got an idea???

When I was playing yesterday it was saying I was going to get kicked for having a lot of packet loss.
This was only at the end of a map though, which, by the sounds of it, is what was happening to the other SDA.
I think at the end of a match you need to shut it down somehow Punt.
They had the same problem with a mod called kickidlers, it kicked everyone at the end of a map because they were idle

Very true, some people just go elsewhere. There isn't much I can do for them in general. How can I fix problems if I don't know about them..

Well for this I can maybe do something. Bear in mind that I suck at coding and haven't changed one thing to the underlying code of the antilag script. All I did was change the stuff it says so it's less annoying.
And of course I can tinker with parameters and timeouts etc.

Might it be that this person is experiencing PACKETLOSS not LAG?

Again.. is this PACKETLOSS or LAG? I think I can change the program to report to the server log when people are sent messages so I can keep better tabs on things.
Also, keep in mind that:
1/ I've been experimenting with the program over the last few days.. and I had to simulate lag for myself (with my quite fast connection) so I told the programs to start kicking after 5seconds instead of the usual 15. That way when I alt-tab UT froze up just long enough to get me kicked (or not). Soooo if this is just the last few days it is quite understandable they got kicked often. Why do people panic so quickly..
2/ The program, as far as I can tell IS fair, but also just takes samples like once a second. That means that if you have some bad luck and have overall ping of 200 but have spikes of 550 every second, the program will assume that you have 550 all the time.
3/ On slow systems, running UT causes lag. My dad's PC has a ping of 30ms to my server, but when I actually PLAY it shoots up to 150, and in complex maps it goes up to a lot more! If people get kicked (after which UT stops doing any 3D work) and then look to the serverbrowser and see server ping of 200, that isnt saying much.
Anyway for now I will raise the time tresholods a bit... tell complainers to connect again and see if it's better. (and tell them to read this topic )

One other thing
People can 'fairly' check their ping and packetloss the following way:
1/ click Start -> Run...
2/ in the box that comes up, enter
cmd (when their machine is winNT, 2k or XP)
or
command (in windows 9X or ME)
3/ in the black window (called the 'command prompt' or 'MS-DOS Prompt') that comes up, type
- you should get a growing list of ping times.
4/ Immediately start UT. If you first wait a long time it wont be really 'fair'
5/ After you're done playing (ONLY on PM of course, since we're testing that), close UT, and select the black window with pings again (click in it)
6/ type Ctrl-C (i.e. push the Ctrl key, keep it pressed, hit 'c', release 'c', release Ctrl) (hehe some people enter "C.t.r.l - C")
The output should look something like:

I've highlighted the important parts.
Keep in mind that still, this program averages so you will not notice short-ish bursts of packetloss or lag. If you have a packetloss of 200 packets over an entire game of UT that sounds fine, but if those 200 packets were in a row, then you'll be rightly kicked.

Anti lag thingy playing up?
well when i was on last night, i kept getting the lag messaage but my ping was fine, but not in the message? see screen print...
ive been at work all day today so i havent had a chance to see how its bein, but im going on after ive posted this so we'll see.

Strange.
but I have no idea which lag info (F1 is a lot different than F6 info) it uses.. plus basically if it samples your lag at a lag spike you get the warning even if the average is much lower.
Basically if you start to get kicked unjustly you should be afraid

somethin' i noticed that happened to me very frequently is that
towards the end of some games the pings tends to increase
very high. got kicked a couple of times but it doesn't bother
me much

Do you ever get the Packetloss warning? Or just ping?
And, do you mean the -very- end or does lag increase gradually over the game? Anyway in my experience at the end of the game most of the time there are more players than at the start. If the server is completely full (30 or more players) the lag starts to go up from the server side.. too many players really but (as far as I know) not yet so much as to start complaining.
(hehe right now 2 athlon MP 2800's are $135 each on ebay, does anyone have a rich aunt?)
