thx for the effort punt. the autolag kick message doesn't pop out
no more but i think my worst nightmare just begun .
pls see pic below
everytime i hit over 500ping the above pic message would visit
my screen. by comparison with the original lag message, i think
it's worst than the previous one(2 lines of messages only only).
wat u see here is a frozon pic. if its movin' it's nightmare.
most of the time i'm aimin' NUTHING(cos i can't see). tis ain't ya
fault. i live too far from ya server...argghhh...

Haha I know I know I had about the same thing goddess.. don't worry just yet Obviously that message is a bug.. For some reason unrealscript doesn't conform to quite a few programming conventions
Anyway one very valid question should be: how much lag are you getting? Not 'ping-wise' but how often do people see you skip around, do you see people skip around etc.
The whole point of a lag check is that people who disrupt gameplay by their lag get removed, not just to annoy people So how bad is it playing against you? By this standard we should set when the program should start to annoy people

I see others with lower pings that skip a lot more

At any rate my system now works fine.
With one little, half-intended side effect, which is that IF you get a lag message it will be repeated hmm 10x or something in your chat window (i.e. it will scroll a bit).
Plus side: people tend to ignore any white message. You wouldnt believe how often I kicked people after trying to actually get them to respond to admin messages for minutes on end. This you prolly will notice
Minus side: well, hehe I dont know how to remedy it even if I wanted to. Its a mystery to me why exactly it repeats
At any rate I doubt it'll interfere with people's play experience too much anymore. (heh if they dont get kicked of course)

Yeah, same here.
I think that perhaps the packet loss is the primary problem, not lag, cause if 'location data' does come thru but just late the people will not skip around too much.
Anyhow, puntautolagkick can also check for packetloss, we can slowly ramp that up to see if we can eliminate jumpy people a bit without annoying people.. (we like )

just tested the server but haven't hit the BIG 5 zero zero yet.
dunno wat the outcome would be. gonna try later when more
people play. man playin' in oca server feels more like at home
than anywhere else
now i gotta go figure how to make the donation online

Good I think (*knocks on wood*) that it should be pretty playable now.

Hah you better, I did all this coding for you!
Seriously j/k of course, you just were the one who brought it to my attention that continuously bugging people with messages they can't do anything with is silly.

Good to hear!
Now all we need to do is tweak down the packetloss criteria on this kick thing. I think that the #1 cause for stuff being unplayable is packet loss cause people start to teleport. Lag (within reason) causes people to not react too properly to quick and sudden changes in situations but with zeroping there are little to no issues with missing people even when you aimed straight at the head.
So.. here's an assignment for you all: Keep your eyes open. If you see someone who obviously is skipping jumping and lagging all over the place (without being kicked) then post here cause we probably need to lower the limits for packetloss.. I think 500-ish is fine for ping
Currently the settings are:
KickTime=15
KickPing=550
-----> if you have over ping 550 for 15 seconds in a row you get kicked.
PacketLoss=10
PackTime=15
------> if you have 10% packetloss or more for 15 secs you get kicked.
Tell me if the server plays fine with these settings, or I need to make them even tighter or more loose..(i.e. you see a regular player you never saw lag annoyingly get kicked) Mind you 10% packetloss is already HIGH.
Also, these settings will most likely kick you if you alt-tab during gameplay but so well.. uh.. dont
