Cow I dont know what you are talking about so I am not sure if I can help you. If you mean compatibility mode in XP (you can run apps in all Windows versions emulation modes) its easy, create shortcut on desktop, right click on it (or you can right click on program file from Windows Eplorer or My Computer too), select Properties, choose Compatibility tab and select windows version which you want to emulate. But I really dont know if you asked for this, try to describe your problem better .

ok roba, let me rephrase it. the driver cd for the force feedback pro joystick requires windows 95 or 98 to use it. i went into compatibility mode for 95,98,ME, and 2000 and it didnt work on any of them. on 95 and 98 it said doesnt see the joystick, its not connected, doesnt see the sound card , or the sound card isnt connected, but the sound card is connected and works and the joystick is connected and works. What i want is on the driver cd, it comes with a program that allows me to adjust the recoil and resistance the joystick gives me.
hopefully that helps somewhat

Microsoft wrote: | Windows XP compatibility for SideWinder game port devicesThis section applies to you if you own one of the following SideWinder game port devices:
SideWinder Force Feedback Pro
SideWinder Precision Pro
SideWinder Force Feedback Wheel (game port version only)
SideWinder Game Pad
SideWinder 3D Pro
The SideWinder software (version 3.02) included with these SideWinder game port devices is designed to work with Microsoft Windows 95 or Windows 98. If you have Windows 2000 or Windows XP, the operating system includes device drivers for these game controllers listed above, so the device will function properly on both Windows 2000 and Windows XP. However, the accompanying SideWinder software (version 3.02 or any previous version) will not function, so you will not be able to create profiles for these devices using the SideWinder software on Windows 2000 or Windows XP. Microsoft is not planning to update the SideWinder software (version 3.02) for game port devices. |
Stupid Microsoft....
from some forum wrote: | From my own experience I can say that the FF1 joystick is working somehow, but all the additional features that bring the game software are missing. Also in the control panel it was not possible to test forces or set the forces. Also there are many reports of users with anomalies when using the FF1 joystick with XP. |

Thank you for contacting Microsoft Online Support. I'm Larry Welch and I will be working with you on this Sidewinder Force Feedback Pro issue.
As I understand the problem is:
Action: wanting to upgrade to Windows XP
Result: Sidewinder Force Feedback Pro not on compatibility list for Windows XP
Brett the Sidewinder Software 3.02 that is used for the Sidewinder Force Feedback Pro is not compatible with Windows XP. This does not mean the controller will not work but if it does work you will not have any of the Sidewinder features such as Profiles. There is a Sidewinder auto-detect in Windows XP that should detect the Sidewinder Force Feedback Pro but there are no guarantees it will work. The older Sidewinder Controllers were not designed to work on a Windows NT platform computer. The New Sidewinder 4.0 controllers are fully compatible with Windows XP.
I will go ahead and close your case at this time. However if you need further help on this issue you can reply to this case to reopen it.
Best Regards,
Larry Welch
