ah shame I missed it looks like you guys had a lot of fun
the noshadows checks a few things, Ive asked the creator if theres any of the checks would fail on a linux client, I know in the old versions there was (get WinDrv.WindowsClient NoLighting) but I think that wouldve been fixed by now - there was also a problem with multilingual returns, where it was looking for 'False' some clients were returning 'Falso' etc but that was fixed afaik
Ill see what Robus says

Thanks for the replys.
Regarding adHX:
First i've to say: I've no clue how Linux works.
But adHX told me in TS yesterday, that she have 2 UT.ini in her UT.
As i understood her right, than both of them are needed from Linux. Maybe this causes the failure? But maybe i understood that false.
I know, that she has always had problems to join UTDC-Protected-Servers. In the past, there was a attitude which could be set for Linux-User in UTDC, when i remember correct. I don't know, if this setting can be done in the last version?
I just read in the Adminforum:
<Works with Windows and Linux servers. (Tested on Linux Redhat 9.0)>
She use a different Linux, i think. Never heard Redhat 9.0 from her. Only other names, but i can't remember. I'll ask her.
I'll post, when i know it.

Thx Atlas.
My operating system is debian sid.
I never heard something about shadows in any ini's.
If u can tell me, where i can found that what brings me the error, so it can helpfully to me.
I use my UT since some years and i never had that problem(never had installed it new).
To UTDC, its not the normally problem, its another fault that showed me ur server. Ur UTDC seems correct that Linuxplayers can play on ur server.
I think to it isnt important how Linux worx, but it is important how the prot worx. Can it be thats a problem with openGL maybe? Dont know.
Thx 4 ur help here.
Kind regards,
[NNL]adHX

I use and many people use OpenGL so I think if there was a bug there it would have ben fixed long ago.

well, going from some old source (maybe other things added by now) it has to be one of these.
get levelinfo ambientbrightness
get levelinfo ambientsaturation
get zoneinfo ambientbrightness
get zoneinfo ambientsaturation
get waterzone ambientbrightness
get waterzone ambientsaturation
get WinDrv.WindowsClient NoLighting
get XDrv.XClient NoLighting
get SDLDrv.SDLClient NoLighting
can you type those lines (or copy/paste) into your console and paste the results here (or a screenshot) (or pm or new thread or irc etc) the last 3 should return 'False'

thx for the offer
im not sure the exact problem but these
get WinDrv.WindowsClient NoLighting
get XDrv.XClient NoLighting
get SDLDrv.SDLClient NoLighting
werent recognised as long as none of them said True your ok but the expected return is 'False' - must be a bug with some linux versions.
thx for helping us out

K and I think it worked with RedHat9 (damn old ) coz it used XFree86.
But debian and fedora(now RedHat) use Xorg as XServer.
The UT what i use today is the same what had used where my pc was running with RedHat9. Thats y i think only the Xserver can be the problem.
But that r only thoughts.
Kind regards
