Hey guys,

With me switching back to the older mapvote (where you can't simply doubleclick on maps people have already voted for) I would really like to go through with the map renaming idea. Please keep up the describing of the maps so i can start renaming them!

Ok guys, I dont know how anyone else feels about this, but im getting board of playing the same maps over and over, for example canyon, they voted it twice in a row the other day.

Also those 1v1 maps are crap bootyshake there is no skill involved.
Theyre ok now and again but some people constantly vote for them.

Im starting to think mapvotes not a good idea (tho it could be great) as its just (imho) abused. Maybe im just being a d*ck but i actualy went to another server the other day oth26
Is it possible to take some of them out of the mapvote?

Ok anyway thats my rant over.
If you think im being a prick dont be afraid to tell me to shut the fuck up new_snipersmilie

Yeah true. Punt this older mapvote can't remove recently played maps from list? I hope that mapvote author will release new stable version soon, becouse this feature in 3.00/3.02 was really useful....

Well.. hmm. I think I could make a manual map deletion after play... move them in and out of the maps dir when a map switch happens.

I'll check into it.

punt,

I ve played on several servers lately who have the newest mapvote, and talked to one admin. Maybe we should try to reinstall the newest version you have, who knows, maybe the first one was a bad install?

We can give it a shot again.... IMO I would be willing to deal with the crash that happened maybe once a week, than have to play the same maps over and over.

were we playing with the most recent mapvote version? Personally, people constantly picking the SAME maps (let alone crappy maps at that...) really bothers me--I'm sure most of you will all agree with me about that one. As for a solution--beats me. Is there another stable mapvote version out there with the feature which removes recent maps from the voting pool?

What about just removing a few maps from the mapvote temporarily, Just for say a couple of weeks?
Then people will have to try new maps.

And maybe after a fortnight canyon wont be so boring Rolling Eyes

Lessee..

Bad install> not really, I've tried it a few times already so its not a Mapvote bad install, I suppose it could be a total bad install, where somehow some of the other parts of the server is dead. I suppose I could try to reinstall the entire thing, but finding the bug that way would be tough.

I still say its Mapvote's fault, not mine. We're just one of the very few servers that has this many users. If you can point me at a server that has mapvote and that has more than 20 players at the same time I'll go mail the server of that one.

If you wish I can reenable mapvote 3.02 again, but it'll kick all players occasionally. I dont have enough experience with it myself to make an accurate guess, but I think its prolly once in every 4 games if there's more than 20 players. (right?)

But, if the only feature you guys are missing is preventing maps playing twice in a row, I think I can just make my own fix for this. I think I can make my system simply remove a map after it's been voted in..

Ill have to look into it, will do that tonight. With luck it will work perfectly, if it doesnt what will happen is if people vote for a map twice in a row the server will crash, but, at the time people reconnect anyway, which in effect would simply result in the server restarting and picking a random map. Users wouldn't notice I don't think.

3.00/3.02 was unstable, as you said, every 4-5 game with many players all got kicked, so if you can remove played maps without mapvote, it would be cool. If it will be possible to set for how much games will be played map removed, I think that 10 games could be good.
