OK I've now also made puntautolagcheck verify player nicknames more strictly. Any 'typewriter' chars are still allowed but things like ·¸¹º»¼½¾¿ÀÁÂÃÄÅÆÇÈÉ aren't anymore. Whoever feels they need an ¼ in their nickname to have fun playing UT is mad anyway.
(however I do hope that this actually works, the list of not allowed characters is now huge. I hope it doesnt crash for being too long.. anyone willing to give it a try? Just make a weird nickname and see if you can still log in?)

I ll try it with ~ later today. BTW Punt, any way how to autoban nick stealers? I think some current bot comes with nick stealer coz nearly all botters I banned in last few weeks had also this nick stealer. They are easy to ban tho (using pure), but if you could do something to ban them automatically, many botters would be punished even without admin online.

well, so far it(packet loss) happened not so frequently.
only when the game ended the ping 'rise to the occasion'
on the whole, it ain't that bad.

but its too laggy and the next patch will be better

Ive been looking at that but the main problem is getting the right info from the server. I would basically need a script/program that looks at the webadmin (or the master server info), and get me a list that looks like:
130.89.22.201 {OCA}Puntloos
1.2.3.4 {OCA}Roba
5.6.7.8 Evil_Cheater Evil_{OCA}Punt Evil{OCA}Roba
i.e. a script that just keeps a list of ips (inside a file) and if the same ip has a new nickname put that nickname after the old nicknames.. then I can easily start banning people who have more than 3 different nicknames per map.
Care to code? Maybe we need something that just downloads the webadmin playerinfo with wget:

gets you a file with all the info in there, but filtering out all the HTML crap and updating a 'current player list' isnt easy.. at least for me

I think 9x is in an 'exclude' list. imo 700+ is too high (how can you play like that???)
It will kick anyone else with a ping over 500

no, ipot isnt 9x. he copied a pic from 9x's post (wherever that went)
im not sure where the script gets the ping info from xeon, one or the other
